About Us

Java Connection sells a range of superb Indonesian arts and craftwork including silk batik, sarongs for men and women, homeware, bags – and much more. We get our goods direct from small producers, mainly in and around Yogyakarta in Java, which is a centre of art and education. This area of Java has a long tradition of producing batik and silver of exceptional quality. To find out more, read our product information. Many of our batik pieces are produced by hand and are unique.

Java Connection is based in Brighton and is run by Tony Pickard and Gunawan Trisaputra (Iwan to his friends). Iwan was born and grew up in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and now lives in the UK. He returns to Indonesia a couple of times a year to keep in touch with our suppliers and to check out new products.

We employ our own staff in Indonesia and have an

office in Yogyakarta dealing with product sourcing,

purchasing, order management, quality control and

shipping.

• Fast Delivery. Orders will be despatched from stock on the next working day after you place your order (subject to order acceptance). Java Connection sends most UK orders by first class Royal Mail Recorded Delivery or Royal Mail Special Delivery. In either event, you should receive your goods 3-4 working days after your order has been accepted. A signature will be required on delivery. Different terms apply to international orders. • Free Delivery On Orders Over £100. In the UK orders over £100 will be delivered free. For orders under £100 there is a delivery charge of £2.50 for the first item plus £1 for each additional item. For full details and international shipping information see delivery.
